Discovery of the beaches in Charente-Maritime

With its more than 460 km of coastline and its four islands forming the Charente archipelago with the island of Ré, the department of Charente-Maritime has about a hundred beaches. From the vast expanse of fine sand overrun by families to the small coves that are difficult to access, each holidaymaker can find in the 17 the little corner of the coast that has been designed for him. • Beach of the Pointe Espagnole, La Tremblade (26 km from the ping-pong, 34 minutes by car): this wild beach of the Arvert peninsula attracts four main profiles: swimmers in search of tranquility, surfers, kitesurfers and naturists (naturism allowed).
• Beach Baby, Aix Island (55 km to Fouras, then 10 minutes by boat): the ideal beach if you like isolated coves far from the beaten track. Its access through a small path is worthwhile, but the change of scenery has a price.
• Beach Les Huttes, Saint-Denis-d’Oléron (60 km from the Royan campsite, 1h11 by car): a very beautiful beach supervised in summer located in the north of the Ile d’Oléron, open on the pertuis d’Antioche, paradise for surfers and kitesurfers. She is supervised in the summer. It has a first aid station, showers, a water sports centre and free parking nearby.

• Great Beach, Châtelaillon-Plage (64 km from the campsite, 1h06 by car): a large family beach located between Rochefort and La Rochelle with many facilities: casino, bars, restaurants, bathing cabins, free parking, access for people with reduced mobility, mattress rental, water sports area (sailing, surfing, kiteboarding)…
• Beach of Gollandières, Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré (98 km from the campsite, 1h34 by car): one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on Ile de Ré with those of La Couarde, Trousse-Chemise and la Conche des Baleines. The beach is located near a large playground that is a delight for children, the Gollandières plain. Your little monsters will find slides, swings, a football and basketball court.

Like all the beaches on the south coast of the island, it is sheltered from the wind, offering favourable conditions for novice surfers and kitesurfers.
